We provide an array of consulting services for school and youth organizations. Our expertise lies in three areas: Staff development, student engagement and positive behavior management. We use a motivational approach in all three areas, relying on the fundamentals found in Motivational Interviewing (MI) and other evidence-based practices like Advancing Youth Development, Love and Logic, Classroom Check-Up and others.

We customize our expertise to the exact needs of the organization. We also provide frameworks that help most clients with their biggest needs.

Motivate Youth can help organizations develop a positive and motivational behavior management plan. We believe in four fundamental aspects of behavior management:
  • Successful behavior support is overwhelmingly positive. Positive behavior must be acknowledged and reinforced at every opportunity.
  • Successful behavior support is collaborative. The autonomy of every teacher, youth worker and student must be respected, and all plans should have their input, understanding and consent.
  • Successful behavior support is consistent. Every teacher and staff member must be using the behavior management system at all times.
  • Successful behavior support is tailored to the education program. There is no “one size fits all” strategy to behavior management. Instead, the plan must be designed to fit with the unique culture of the program.

Motivate Youth can help education organizations transition and adopt new positive behavior management strategies. There are often struggles during the transition to a new program. Teachers and staff may not be motivated to switch, and students may not fully understand the new expectations and approaches. This can put a good behavior management plan into a death spiral, as consistency falls apart and stress breaks down positivity. We can show you positive ways to keep teachers and youth workers motivated without reverting to negative habits or inconsistent approaches.

Motivate Youth can help incorporate Motivational Interviewing into your program. MI is a scientifically verified approach to help students become more engaged and increase their grades. All it takes are one-on-one conversations with trained adults, designed to evoke the students’ intellectual curiosity and intrinsic motivation to succeed. Motivate Youth will not only provide the trainings, but also help set up the opportunities to practice MI within the organization’s curriculum or behavior management plan.
